MailChimp Makes Automation Free For Everyone – Forever!

Automation is something that MailChimp does really well – offering a wide array of powerful marketing automation features. Features that were previously only accessible for paying members. However, as of this month, that’s all changed. MailChimp has made automation free for all! Users on the Forever Free, Monthly, Pro, and Pay As You Go plans can all setup automation campaigns for no additional cost. So go ahead and setup those welcome emails for new subscribers. Create full blown drip-marketing campaigns. And do it all for free (while you have less than 2000 subscribers anyway).

Automation empowers our customers to create sophisticated campaigns that help them compete with bigger companies, but we know that not everyone has a large list or the budget to upgrade to a paid account when they first get started. Small businesses look to MailChimp to help them build their brand, and we want to give everyone—no matter their account type or list size—the opportunity to use our marketing automation tools to do just that.

This change went into effect on May 2nd, so as of the writing of this post, anyone reading this can click their Automation tab within MailChimp and setup a new campaign to welcome new list subscribers, reward your subscribers, and more!

This is quite a huge change – and a major reason that some people upgraded to Pro accounts in the past. I truly commend MailChimp for standing behind the small business owner in such a way, especially when they believe that MailChimp users earn an average of $619 more thanks to abandoned cart notifications. Offering automation tools for free is a great way to help businesses with all budgets start off their email marketing campaigns the right way.
