Facebook Updates Their Newsfeed Algorithm

Earlier this week on April 21st, 2015 Facebook announced a new Newsfeed algorithm that is rolling out right now. The new algorithm brings out 3 main changes which effect business owners (aka page owners) and personal users. To make life easier for everyone I threw together a quick 4-minute video (see above) discussing just how the new algorithm will effect everyone.

  • If you don’t follow alot of pages of people, Facebook will now be significantly more lenient about showing several updates in a row from the same source.
  • Notifications about your friends commenting on some post will hold significantly less weight and will be shown less in newsfeeds.
  • The balancing algorithm between liked page posts and friend status updates has been reworked.
