Google’s PageRank came about, as we know it anyway, has been around for almost two decades – and Google’s Gary Illyes recently reminded us that it’s still very much alive. In a “DidYouKnow” tweet he states “DYK that after 18 years we’re still using PageRank (and 100s of other signals) in ranking?“. Check out the tweet below:

While the statement does confirm that PageRank is still serving its purpose, it does make sure to mention that there are 100s of other ranking signals involved these days – and currently some of them go much further in terms of SEO than PageRank does. Remember there hasn’t been an update to PageRank since 2013, and Google’s John Mueller did state there won’t be any updates to it in the future.
