As everyone makes themselves familiar with Google’s latest link scheme guidelines, more and more questions are coming up. The latest question coming in from Nandita B in India asks:

Currently, guest blogging is the favorite activity of webmasters for link acquisition. Due to its easy nature, lots of spammy activities are going on like article spinning etc. Is Google going to hammer websites for links acquired by guest blogging?

And in response Matt Cutts has posted a video response yesterday discussing the topic. In short – the answer is yes. Based on the new guidelines, if you’re website is found to link to a-lot of low-quality websites – you’re sites ranking will suffer because of that. So if you allow just about anyone to post on your blog, and link out to low-quality websites and content – you WILL hurt your ranking. The full video response can be watched below:
