I have mentioned backups in a previous article on here, and if you haven’t done a backup of your files in a while – there is no better day to do it on than March 31st, also known as World Backup Day! World Backup Day is a day for people to learn about the increasing role of data in our lives and the importance of regular backups. In fact, if you haven’t read my article discussing the importance of keeping a your own backups – you can start your education with that.
This independent initiative to raise awareness about backups and data preservation started out — like most good things on the internet – on reddit by a couple of concerned users. Since then it has spread to a widely “celebrated” day – with plenty of large companies running some great offers during World Backup Day.
Software developer Paragon is putting up for grabs Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12 Business. This is the hardcore, super-functional version of the suite designed for small businesses that need to backup data on multiple computers. It can handle up to 10 servers and 100 workstations, provides quick backups, and can handle hard disk partitioning. Computers and servers running Windows are supported and recovery can be managed in a WinPE, Linux or DOS environment.
Entering the contest is simple. Just go to Paragon’s sign-up page and enter your information. Over 100 randomly chosen entries will receive a free copy and everyone who registers will receive a discount code that knocks 30% off the price. Entries will be accepted until April 8thand winners announced no later than April 12th.
For even more offers check out the official World Backup Day website. While the offers mentioned there are geared mostly towards the backup of personal files – a webmaster should never forget to keep up-to-date backups of their servers files. As such – I have provided links to a few tutorials to help everyone out:
