In a recent conversation with some of the staff over at Atlantic.net I was told that Atlantic.net will no longer be offering managed vps services. The initial server setup is handled for you – and from there everything else is up to you. Atlantic.net proactively monitors all of their hardware to make sure everything is up and running, however if your Apache service crashes suddenly – it’s up to you to monitor that. Atlantic.net does perform nightly backups, and can always restore your account to an earlier backup – should you mess something up. It’s weird that they no longer offer this service, yet their website continues to mention it. Granted the Managed VPS page doesn’t have a sign-up option anymore, and doesn’t really provide a list of any managed services anymore. I guess they’ll remove this page soon enough, but in the meantime I just wanted to give everyone the heads-up. While Atlantic.net is still a great hosting provider, with a great network, and years of experience – I wanted to make sure that no-one signs up under false pretenses.
