There is a new Google manual action that has came out recently, and one every webmaster should be fully aware of. This is Google’s new “image mismatch” manual action, which comes up when the images on your site don’t match up with what Google has indexed.

Google has published a new help document on this over here where it reads:

If you see this message on the Manual Actions page, it means that some of your site’s images may be displaying differently on Google’s search results pages than they are when viewed on your site.

As a result, Google has applied a manual action to the affected portions of your site, which will affect how your site’s images are displayed in Google. Actions that affect your whole site are listed under Site-wide matches. Actions that affect only part of your site are listed under Partial matches.

Image spam has long been around. We’ve all had times when we click on an image via Google’s image search and instead get redirected to a page with no sight of the image we originally wanted. It’s nice to see Google taking care of things like this.

However as with anything new, there are always kinks to work out. So far there has been some talk of an increase in traffic from image searches for some people, and no reports if any faulty actions yet.

If you have experienced any issues with your site in regards to this latest manual action, feel free to post your experience in the comments below.
