For those of you already using SiteGround as your hosting provider – you’re more than likely already familiar with the SiteGround Staging tool which offers one-click staging for WordPress and Joomla along with pre-installed Git. For those of you who are always busy working on your website and making new changes; or just developing a new redesign – SiteGrounds’ Staging tool is absolutely invaluable offering you a safe environment to make your necessary changes, test them, and then move them over to your life website.
Well SiteGround has recently announced version 2.0 of their staging tool which brings about much more flexibility and control over the various staging copies you can have. Furthermore the creating of a new Git repo has been significantly simplified down to the click of a single button.
Probably my favorite addition brought about by the new version is Advanced Push. Normally when you finished making your developments and are satisfied with your website you would hit the Push To Live button and the SiteGround Staging tool would clone all the changes you’ve made to your staging website copy over to your live site. Well Advanced Push compares all of the files, folders, and database modifications that have been made and gives you a list of those changes allowing you to pick and choose exactly which modifications should be pushed out to the live website and which ones should not be.
