It seems that more and more of the technology that I grew up with is on it’s way out lately. Just a few hours ago I wrote about the official retirement of Google’s Web Search API; earlier on at the end of 2013 Winamp closed it’s doors; and now I’m writing to tell you that MSN Messenger, or Windows Live Messenger as it later became called, is also going away with it’s last message scheduled to be sent out on a October 31st, 2014.

Farewell funny Messenger avatars, and ASCII style username designs. I know these days there are plenty of chat services out there, and fact is even I haven’t used Messenger in years now. Alas it’s still sad to see it go. Goodbye little buddy.
