Back in April I had first mentioned the redesign of the HI Abseiling website – a custom WordPress based theme drawn up by Colin Berwick in Photoshop, and converted over to WordPress by me. HI Abseiling are one of London’s premier window cleaning providers, along with a wide range of other services including concrete testing, blasting, and painting. I had worked with them previously on their original website – also built upon WordPress however based off a readily available free template. This just wouldn’t work, and so the following was created:
The homepage features a custom slider in the header section, fully controllable from within the WordPress backend via a custom post-type called Slides. Furthermore the entire homepage is widgetized, including the “Our Clients Say The Nicest Things” testimonial carousel – powered by jQuery. This allows complete control for the client to easily change things around and update their content.
All of the internal pages feature a custom header image and header text which are definable via custom fields from within the WordPress page editor. Since the look of the various pages is different – custom designed page templates were created for the About, Recruitment, and Contact pages. The Services and Projects pages are setup as posts – allowing for more organized control over the various new and upcoming services and projects. Contact us links are provided on the Services and Projects pages, and can be changed and inserted via the use of custom fields within the WordPress page/post editors. Furthermore since all of the internal pages are setup as either pages or posts – they are fully editable via any of the WordPress mobile apps available for Blackberry, Android or iPhone. The actual contact form on the contact page was created utilizing the Contact Form 7 plugin available for WordPress.

Finally the footer features a newsletter subscription form, handled by the Subscribe2 plugin available for WordPress, and further integrated with the HI Abseiling Mailchimp account.
