Over the last couple of weeks I have been working on a new WordPress/Buddypress project for AllAPNotes.com – a sister site of USHistoryAPNotes.com. The goal here was to build a single, modern, user-friendly portal where visitors and members can easily browse through all of the various content and interact with fellow students. With the recent release of Buddypress v2.0, and the tremendous performance improvements it has over the previous versions – I wanted to utilize it for this project.
Now while they are still working on getting all the content into their new website I haven’t listed this in my portfolio yet – however I wanted to go ahead and give everyone here a sneak peak at what’s coming in. I know we have a large student population here, especially with the Programming in C tutorial series which pretty much follows the outlines of most CST101 classes – so I figured some of you might be excited by this.
The design for the site is inspired by a classic students notebook and built upon Bootstrap. A LayerSlider grabs the initial user attention on the homepage – showcasing some of the key features offered by AllAPNotes. To further minimize the efforts required in finding the exact bit of content you require a search function was built into the navigation menu – visible upon clicking the search icon. This allows for a cleaner interface without loosing any of the functionality.
All classes contain a variety of different areas – such as their own user Groups and their own public Forums. This is all neatly organized on the various class pages in a right hand sidebar.
AllAPNotes.com also features a complete social experience allowing all members to interact with each other via a public newsfeed, a friendship system, private messaging, user groups, and more. Logged in members get quick access to these functions and their notifications via a drop-down display in the top header of the website.
