Sadly Google has decided to stop sales of the Google Glass project in it’s current form. The Exlorer program that originally allowed someone to buy Google Glass for $1500 is no more; and all units have been pulled so as I write this you unfortunately will not be able to run out and grab a unit.

However all hope is not lost. Google will continue to support companies utilizing Google Glass already; and while they’ve stopped sales they haven’t stopped development. According to the BBC, Google Glass is simply moving to a new team supervised by Tony Faddell, the CEO of Nest Labs, a company that was purchased by Google last year and which will now help create a second-generation Glass.

Fadell’s new team “will focus on ‘future versions of Glass’ with work carried out by a different division to before,” BBC wrote, and at least a prototype could see daylight later this year. It’s not yet clear whether the new Glass could also launch in final form by December 31, 2015 or not.
