A Tweet a few hours ago let me know about @HGstatus – a new Twitter profile created specifically to keep HostGator’s customers up to date on the latest network status information – whether it be scheduled maintenance or temporary downtime.

Personally, as someone that has a few clients with dedicated and reseller accounts at HostGator – I find this extremely convenient since Twitter is setup on my mobile phone – and thus all notifications are instantly visible to me. Kind of like the scheduled reboot of the ritz server earlier this morning, and the ram swap on the somerset server late last night.
So my recommendation? If you’re a HostGator customer – go ahead and follow both the @hostgator and @hgstatus accounts. Hosting companies are getting more and more active on their social profiles – so this is sure to keep the line of communication between you and HostGator more open.
