It’s always great to hear a confirmation from Google that helps showcase a positive ranking signal – and Gary Illyes latest tweet essentially gives us just that:

Comments on a blog have always seemed to help a website rank, however this is the first time that Google actually came close to confirming that. The fine-line here is what exactly Google defines as a quality comment. Does the comment simply have to focus on the content mentioned above it, or does it also factor in grammar? Surely the SEO community will work to find out, and I am sure that this confirmation will lead to some new developments across comment-popular websites to help focus on generating quality comments.
