Last night Instagram rolled out a new update on iOS and Android devices (v7.4) which introduced a more detailed place search, allowing you to see trending places and search for posts at specific places. However they also took away something dear to most marketers on Instagram – custom locations. That’s right, Instagram no longer supports custom locations.

In a help article posted here Instagram says that custom locations that have been used on past posts will remain, however you won’t be able to quickly create custom locations within Instagram anymore. From now all any custom locations must be created on Facebook – which is rather annoying when you just want to showcase a URL or tag-line.
