The W3C has brought us a slew of awesome webmaster tools which many of us have used forever now. There was the HTML Validator, RSS Validator, CSS Validator, a Broken Link Checker, and now the W3C have added a new tool to their suite: the Mobile Checker.

The W3C Mobile Checker scans your website and checks for the usage of various HTML elements specific to responsive design and mobile friendly use. You then get a report of the various findings along with tips on how you can fix any issues that may exist.

Furthermore the Mobile Checker is open source, so developers can fork its source code on GitHub and run their own modified version, or they can contribute to it with bug reports and new feature requests via the project’s Issues Tracker.

Check out the W3C Mobile Checker here. Keep in mind it’s still an alpha – which means there is alot of work that still has to be done before this can be considered a complete first version release.
