As our way of life changes, and we start to rely more and more on the Internet there will always be people out there trying to anonymously scam you out of your hard earned money by selling you fake products/services behind a shady website name. Over the years we’ve all seen those emails advertising cheap prescription medication that used to fill up our spam folders and sometimes our inboxes – and these days the people behind those websites are actively marketing, promoting, and optimizing these websites to get us to see them when we go out to the interwebs and make a simple search. Type in one wrong keyword and you’re surrounded by potential scammers.
Bing wants to help, and as such Bing has introduced a new set of warnings which will be displayed on websites that have been cited by the FDA as a fake online pharmacy; with data coming directly from the FDA’s public site list.
When there is a significant risk of serious harm to the public from purchasing unsafe, counterfeit and other illegal drugs online, the Bing team wants to help our users make informed decisions. With this goal in mind, we are rolling out a new set of warnings on Bing.com to give our customers more information about the dangers of visiting unsafe online pharmacies.
This is a decent start to the war on the sale of fake products online, and hopefully the new warnings help reduce the number of people who get duped by fake online pharmacies. Now if we can get Google to follow along – that would really make a lasting impact.
