Spring cleaning is the period in spring time set aside for cleaning a house, normally applied in climates with a cold winter.
The most common usage of spring cleaning refers to the yearly act of cleaning a house from top to bottom which would take place in the first warm days of the year typically in spring, hence the name. However it has also come to be synonymous with any kind of heavy duty cleaning or organizing enterprise. A person who gets their affairs in order before an audit or inspection could be said to be doing some spring cleaning. So it should come as no surprise that we are starting to see so many website redesigns coming out the past couple of weeks. Netflix was a large one as they started to revamp their website to make the online streaming experience easier. BlackBerry recently announced their rebranding and relaunch of MyBlackberry as Blackberry Communities; and now Bravenet welcomes in their new website redesign.

Off hand you’ll immediately notice that Bravenet has categorized their multitude of services into several new areas:

  • Bravenet – the portal for your account. On Bravenet you manage all your account information.
  • BraveDomains – Domain management and registration services. Domains can be used with both BraveSites and BraveHost.
  • BraveSites – a new, easy to use, drag and drop website builder. Includes: blogs, photo galleries, maps, audio and video players and more.
  • BraveHost – powerful full featured FTP hosting that includes: email accounts, PHP support, database hosting and more.
  • BraveApps – Here you will find all the webtools you have come to love from Bravenet: blog, guestbook, email forms, messages forums,
hit counters and so much more.
  • BraveMailer – Build and send email newsletters cost effectively with Bravenet’s intuitive mailing list builder – tons of email templates are available.

Ofcourse with the new categorization a brand new horizontal menu had to be developed to allow quick and easy access to all the various sections – and all in all I would say Bravenet has done a great job at their redesign. The new organizational structure helps seperate the plethora of content available on Bravenet making it much easier to navigate. There was a time when all of your apps and services that you were using from Bravenet would be displayed on one page – giving you a whole lot of scrolling time. The new design helps to clear that issue up by seperating the various content into their own sections. It sure has been quiet the growth for Bravenet from 1997 when they first started out.
