DreamHost is damn serious about your privacy; however being a US-based company they are unfortunately required to comply with various information requests from legitimate domestic law enforcement agencies, along with DMCA takedown requests from rights-holders, and requests to remove content from courts processing defamation or invasion of privacy lawsuits. These are however just requests, and DreamHost has decided to publish their first transparency report for 2014 to show you just how they’ve handled the various requests they got. The report is available here.

Probably the most important number within the report is the 57% rejection rate for requests in 2014. DreamHost has your back, and this proves it. 60% of those requests were denied due to procedural errors made on behalf of the parties submitting them. of combined information requests in 2014. Over 60% of those rejected requests were due to procedural errors made by the parties requesting them.

As mentioned, we value your privacy, dear DreamHoster, and will always protect it to the fullest extent of the law. Our hard-working Abuse and Legal teams work day and night to keep your customer data secure. And because we value shameless honesty, we want to be as transparent as possible about the government requests we’ve received, and make this data accessible to the public, for all to see!
