Google +1 Snippet Doesn’t Work in IE7

Remember that Google+1 button we got so excited about earlier on? Well while doing some work on a client’s PC which happened to be running a pre-SP1 Windows Vista OS with IE7 installed and decided to head over to the blog and check how it loaded out. Everything worked great, except for the Google +1 snippet – which did not load at all. A quick search revealed that ShaneLabs has noticed this as-well.

Getting home that night I did some further searching on this matter. I tested in IE8 and IE9 and was successful with both. Finally I decided to search the Google Profiles help articles and found the list of supported browsers.

  • Windows: Chrome, Firefox 3.6, Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9
  • Linux : Chrome, Firefox 3.6
  • Mac: Chrome, Firefox 3.6, Safari 4

Every day it seems more and more “official” that Google has given up on supporting IE7. Can you really blame them?
