I was browsing around the Internet this weekend and came upon something that, to me, seems like the biggest change in Google Adsense that I have seen since I have started using it – almost 8 years ago. Skyscraper and Big Box ad units have a new animated display. When left-alone the ads simply display the ad title in a slightly enlarged font, however when hovered over they change back to a normal ad unit. I have only seen these new ad units a handful of times, so it’s clear that Google is still in a testing phase with them; however some quick searching through the Internet revealed 2 videos recorded by incrediBILL showcasing the new ad units.

There has been talk that some people have witnessed these new animated ads across other ad sizes as-well, such as 234×60 and 336&280 Adsense units – so maybe this is the new direction that Google is headed with the display of Adsense ads.
