[/frame]Hosting provider ServInt on March 1st announced new compatibility for Linux-based operating system Ubuntu via the company’s VPS Flex line. Discussing the matter in a press release, company CTO Matt Loschert noted the OS had “grown by leaps and bounds since its introduction in 2004.”
“It is now the most popular Linux distribution in the desktop and laptop world, with increasing popularity on the server side as well. Since a large number of our customers are located in developing nations, where Ubuntu is extremely popular, the decision to add it was an easy one. CentOS will remain the standard OS for the vast majority of our customers, but for those who want Ubuntu, that option is now available,” he went on to say.
ServInt’s hosting solutions include dedicated, self-managed and more. Currently ServInt is offering Ubuntu with the latest long-term support (LTS) version — 12.04.1 — in both 32- and 64-bit iterations, and as of roll out, the Ubuntu OS over VPS will be offered unmanaged.
