Earlier on this month Google announced that SSL-secured websites will receive a small ranking boost. Since then I have even converted the majority of Rapid Purple to run over an HTTPS connection. If you’ve been going through the conversion process yourself lately here’s a bit of news that Barry Schwartz found out which might make your life a little easier. As it turns out Google will give the ranking boost to all HTTPS sites – regardless of broken/invalid SSL certificates and content mismatch errors.

Granted this will probably change in the future – however for now while plenty of webmasters are going through the various HTTPS/SSL hiccups it’s nice to see Google being understanding and going easy on their requirements. So if you’ve been going crazy trying to perfect your websites HTTPS migration – enjoy the leniency.
