GoDaddy has joined forces with cloud backup provider Dropmysite to offer cloud-based website backup solutions for small and medium sized businesses. Dropmysite will automatically back up a customers website daily and securely using 256 bit military grade Advance encryption standards (AES) encryption. If any issue arises Dropmysite will allow the customer to easily and quickly get their website back online with its one click restore which will recreate a website and database within minutes.

Most GoDaddy customers are small businesses and need their websites to be up and running,” Jennifer Wehrmaker, senior director of product marketing for Hosting at GoDaddy said. “Having a backup of a website is vital on the Internet today. There are a number of reasons a website could have issues and being able to go back to a previous version is priceless. Dropmysite’s product and global network of data centers enables us to more easily support our growing global customer base.

I don’t see anything dedicated to the new offering on the GoDaddy website yet – however https://godaddy.dropmysite.com is populating in Google and when you go there you see the various features of Dropmysite with a GoDaddy logo.

Personally I think this is a great move to help push business owners towards properly maintaining backups of their website – something I just recently made a video about. It’ll be interesting to see how GoDaddy integrates this service and how much they end up charging for it. Dropmysite itself starts at $29.99/yr for a 10GB plan.
