Visual media goes a long way with Google My Business listings – with some businesses reporting that their photos produce the majority of their business listing views. A fact that only makes sense when you consider the importance that photos play when selecting a restaurant for a dinner date, a beauty salon for hair treatment, or a bed & breakfast for a weekend getaway.

With that in mind, I’m super excited to announce that Google has now enabled video uploads within Google My Business! That means you can now showcase videos -up to 30 seconds in length -within your business listings. Furthermore your customers can choose to upload videos as well! User generated content courtesy of Google? I think so!

To upload a video head over to your Google My Business dashboard, click on Photos in the left-side navigation, and then click on videos in the top links. You can now post new videos and view/edit any existing videos you have.

Keep in mind that it can take up to 24hrs for a newly uploaded video to appear on your business listing. However once they go live – they will display for everyone along with your photos. Get creative with these videos, and use them to show off the best parts of your business. These videos give you a chance to get personal and connect with your potential customers way before they actually visit your business!
