Facebook has announced it’s fourth quarter 2015 earnings this week – which revealed some rather interesting and important numbers that webmasters and marketers should take note of.

First off, Facebook is now up to 1.59 billion monthly active users – a 14% increase from last year. Monthly active mobile users are up to 1.44 billion – a 17% increase. Some important numbers surely. Here’s the statistical highlights:

  • Revenue – Revenue for the full year 2015 was $17.93 billion, an increase of 44% year-over-year.
  • Income from operations – Income from operations for the full year 2015 was $6.23 billion.
  • Net income – Net income for the full year 2015 was $3.69 billion.
  • Free cash flow – Free cash flow for the full year 2015 was $6.08 billion.
  • Daily active users (DAUs) – DAUs were 1.04 billion on average for December 2015, an increase of 17% year-over-year.
  • Mobile DAUs – Mobile DAUs were 934 million on average for December 2015, an increase of 25% year-over-year.
  • Monthly active users (MAUs) – MAUs were 1.59 billion as of December 31, 2015, an increase of 14% year-over-year.
  • Mobile MAUs – Mobile MAUs were 1.44 billion as of December 31, 2015, an increase of 21% year-over-year.

However the most interesting number that I want to focus on is theĀ 823 million mobile only users that Facebook has.

Mobile only users are growing and this is an extremely important observation for marketers and business owners. It’s important that you factor in mobile users when running your social media campaigns. Frankly these days everything you do needs to consider mobile users. You’re social media campaigns, you’re website, you’re email marketing. Everything. And this recent statistic just proves that. 823 million mobile only users on something as popular as Facebook means there’s probably a-lot more mobile only users browsing you’re website than you thought.
