Back in 2003-2005 I used to do alot of work on YaBB/Boardnation forums. Apart from offering support, I moderated the forums, and frequently put together custom designs for members. Visiting the Boardnation Community randomly yesterday I had noticed that custom templates have downgraded back to simple CSS color variations of the same exact template. Such a lack of creativity. YaBB/Boardnation is actually extremely flexible when it comes to custom templates – and I never did understand why people do not take full advantage of that.

I figured I would hop onto my old test forums (located at http://boardnation.rapidpurple.com) and play around a bit. This is the end result:

This design features a very simple sidebar with 2 boxes (you can freely add more or ask me and I will customize it for you). The first box automatically displays the news that you set within your YaBB/Boardnation Admin CP. To tie everything together I am using the Super Blue button set (built into Boardnation forums). The full template code is available after the jump.

There are 2 versions available, 1 for Boardnation users and 1 for YaBB users. Simply select the appropriate icon below to view the code for your version.
