Skype is currently used by more than 300 million people these days and it many rely on it for more than just personal use. I can think of a few people, cough Illicit cough, who practically refuse all other sorts of communication methods especially for business use. Well, Illicit and everyone using Office 365 and Office 2013 will be happy to hear that Skype has launched Skype for Business.

Skype for Business replaces Microsoft Lync and offers the same experience that regular Skype users have, combined with enterprise-grade security & enterprise level control. Furthermore, it’s built right in to Microsoft Office, so initiating chats, calls and meetings is an integrated experience within Office. If you’re users aren’t ready for a quick switch don’t worry Microsoft has setup an option for the administrator to switch between the Skype & Lync interface.

Office 2013 users will get the new Skype for Business client within their April monthly update; while Office 365 customers should see it anytime starting now through the end of May when the roll-out is scheduled to be finished. To learn more about Skype for Business head over here.
