The first NFL game of the season was last night, and Bing and Google took no time in getting in ready for the season. Bing kickstarted the season by launching Bing Predicts, a service that uses search, social, and other data to forecast the outcomes of upcoming events, like sports, reality shows, and elections. So if you run a search for NFL predictions on Bing you’ll see the following:

If you’re not near your computer to run a search Bing is enabling this predictive behavior in Cortana, the intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator for Windows Phone 8.1. Users can simply ask Cortana, “Who will win: Team A or Team B?” and she will provide an answer.

Everyone called their bookie? Great, now let’s go make some GIFs to support our team. Through a partnership with EA Sports, Google created the Madden GIFERATOR. What exactly does it do? This:

Furthermore during every NFL game, the Madden GIFERATOR will create a live stream of memes using Madden NFL 15 video game footage (as GIFs), triggered by the action on the field. The GIFs will appear in real time on MaddenGIFERATOR.com, on social media, as well as in ads on popular sports and gaming related apps and sites across the the Google Display Network. For example, if Seattle’s Richard Sherman picks off Aaron Rodgers tonight, you might see a GIF of Sherman with the headline “Weren’t you supposed to catch that? Aawwwwwkward” in the stream, alongside a real-time update on the score and game clock.
