StableHost has been around for quiet a while now and they’ve built up a reputation for themselves in the web hosting community as a no-nonsense hosting company with a huge focus on support & performance. Well continuing with that focus the team over at StableHost has began building a simple, straight forward, website monitoring platform – complete with email, SMS, phone, or web-hook notifications that come as soon as 10 seconds after your server is down.

The website monitoring platform is available at PingThat.com and is currently in open-beta – meaning it’s available to everyone for free! Actually PingThat always intended to have a free plan with support for up-to 2 devices, 15 minute monitoring intervals, and unlimited email notifications. However during the open-beta everyone who signs up get’s access to the Professional plan – with 100 devices supported, 1 minute monitoring intervals, unlimited email & SMS notifications/

There is a catch here. The platform is still in the early stages of development – so while my own personal tests haven’t had any issues and PingThat has been 100% correct with all of it’s notifications & reporting so far – it’s not 100% finished yet so I wouldn’t go off and rely on it as your main source of website monitoring …. yet.

That being said PingThat offers a clean dashboard powered by jQuery UI; offers several types of checks along with the ability to search for specific text on your website when performing a simple HTTP(S) check – thus confirming that everything is displaying as you intended. Those of you familiar with Rackspace website monitoring for your dedicated servers already know the benefits of such checks. Otherwise PingThat also offers a growing documentation wiki which is conveniently linked to from all the various pages where you might have a question.

Webmasters; I urge you to give PingThat a try – but more-so I urge you to report bugs, submit your feedback, and pitch in to help make this the best website monitoring platform out there! Sorry Pingdom; we still love you.
