Remember when you started hearing all this hype about Facebook making an unlike button? Well this week Facebook started testing out what they actually meant when they mentioned an alternative action to the Like button: Reactions. A Reaction does alot more than just a like – it lets Facebook start to learn what you really like, and what you kind of enjoy. Check out Mark Zuckerberg’s video below, also take note that there is not, and there never was going to be, an unlike button.

Today we are beginning to test Reactions – an extension of the Like button that gives people more ways to share their reaction to a post in a quick and easy way. We’re excited to start this test, but understand that this is a big change, and one that we want to make sure to get right.

Our goal is to show you the stories that matter most to you in News Feed. Initially, just as we do when someone likes a post, if someone uses a Reaction, we will infer they want to see more of that type of post. We will spend time learning from this initial rollout and iterate based on findings in the future.

Currently Reactions is only available in Spain and Ireland and will be slowly rolled out to everyone else IF things go well with this initial test. As far as for business page owners, Reactions will show up within your Page Insights analytics, and they will count on your Facebook Ads as likes.
